Sustainable Strip Out & Material Recycling

SmartClear Solutions

Responsible strip out and demolition with sustainability at the core

We deliver sustainable strip out and demolition services that prioritise responsible waste management, material reuse and recycling. Working across Surrey and the South East, we support commercial, education and public sector projects where reducing environmental impact is an important part of the brief.

Sustainability is considered at every stage of our work — from planning and material separation on site, through to compliant transportation and disposal.

What is a sustainable strip out?

Sustainable strip out focuses on carrying out strip out and demolition works in a way that reduces waste, maximises recycling and supports the reuse or repurposing of materials wherever possible.

Rather than treating strip out as a simple clearance exercise, we take a considered approach to identifying materials that can be salvaged, recycled or diverted from landfill. This helps reduce environmental impact and supports more responsible redevelopment and refurbishment projects.

Sustainable strip out is commonly required for:

  • Education and school buildings

  • Modular and temporary structures

  • Commercial refurbishments

  • Office and retail strip outs

  • Public and regulated environments

Our approach to sustainability and recycling

SmartClear Solutions recognise the pivotal role we play in delivering sustainable site clearance across projects of all sizes. We work with corporate clients, contractors, developers, retailers and education providers to ensure environmental responsibility is embedded into our strip out and demolition works.

Our approach includes:

  • Responsible waste management on every project

  • Maximising recycling and reuse of materials

  • Environmentally conscious site practices

  • Full compliance with current environmental regulations

We are fully licensed waste carriers, and all materials are handled, transported and disposed of in line with regulatory requirements.

Wherever possible, we aim to salvage and repurpose materials, helping to support a circular economy that benefits both our clients and the wider environment. We are always looking to improve how materials are reused and welcome partnerships with like-minded organisations that share our commitment to a more sustainable construction industry.

Who is this service for?

Our sustainable strip out and material recycling services are commonly used by:

  • Schools and education providers

  • Local authorities

  • Commercial landlords

  • Property developers

This service is particularly well suited to projects where environmental responsibility, reuse and waste reduction are key considerations from the outset.

How we deliver sustainable strip out projects

Sustainability is considered early in the project process, allowing waste management and recycling opportunities to be planned effectively. Materials are carefully separated on site, with a clear focus on reuse and recycling wherever feasible.

Our team works closely with clients and project stakeholders to ensure sustainability goals are aligned with programme requirements, without compromising safety, compliance or delivery timelines.

This approach allows us to balance practical site constraints with responsible environmental practices across both large and small projects.

Compliance, Accreditations and Insurance

SmartClear Solutions are fully accredited, insured and recognised within the industry, giving our clients confidence that works are delivered to the highest standards. This makes us particularly well suited to projects in live, regulated and public environments.

Featured project: Sustainable strip out of modular school building – Leatherhead

We completed the full strip out and demolition of a modular school building in Leatherhead, with a strong focus on recycling and material reuse.

The project involved the careful dismantling and removal of the modular structure, allowing components and materials to be salvaged and recycled wherever possible. This approach significantly reduced waste sent to landfill and demonstrated how sustainable practices can be successfully applied within education environments.

This project highlights our ability to deliver sustainability-led strip out solutions that support both environmental responsibility and practical project delivery.

Sustainability beyond a single project

In addition to this project, we regularly incorporate sustainable practices across our wider strip out and demolition works, including:

  • Education buildings

  • Commercial refurbishments

  • Internal demolition works

  • Clearance and enabling projects

Our aim is to continuously improve how materials are reused, recycled and responsibly disposed of across all services we provide.
